The Eternal Spring of Life, 2026

John 4:14 "but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

John 7:37-39 "On the last day, the climax of the festival, Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, “Anyone who is thirsty may come to me! Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’"(When he said “living water,” he was speaking of the Spirit, who would be given to everyone believing in him. But the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet entered into his glory.)"

Revelation 7:16-17 "They shall hunger no more, neither thirst anymore; the sun shall not strike them, nor any scorching heat. For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of living water, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

Colossians 2:6-7 "So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness."

Ephesians 3:17-19 "So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God."

Psalm 1:1-3 "Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers."

Jeremiah 7:7-8 “But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”

John 15:4-5 "Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing."

Isaiah 58:11 "The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail." 

2 Peter 3:18 "But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen."

The entire image reveals the truth that our roots, strength, growth, fruitfulness, and eternal hope depend entirely upon Jesus Christ. The eternal spring represents Jesus Christ, the source of living water. From Him flows the Holy Spirit, who continually renews, strengthens, and sustains all who believe. Just as a tree cannot survive without a constant source of water, we cannot flourish apart from Christ. The deep roots symbolise faith grounded in Christ's love and truth. Through the washing and cleansing of our soul through the Word and the work of the Holy Spirit, we can be firmly rooted in Christ, spiritually stable, and able to withstand seasons of hardship without losing hope. The healthy trunk reflects a life built upon Christ Himself. The flourishing branches and abundant fruit reveal the visible fruit of having a Christ-like character. The flowing spring also points beyond this present life to God's eternal promise. One day the Lamb will lead His people to everlasting springs of living water where suffering, thirst, and death will never exist again.

Meditating on these Scriptures, I am challenged to consider the condition of my spiritual roots.

Am I quenching my thirst daily from Christ, the Living Water, drinking His pure Word that we may grow into His character and faith by tasting God's good grace? (1 Peter 2:1-6) Or am I seeking satisfaction from temporary things that can never truly satisfy? (Luke 12:13-21). To remain rooted in Christ, I must continually come to Him through prayer, meditate on His Word, yield to the Holy Spirit, and trust Him in every season. As my roots grow deeper into His love, He strengthens my faith, produces spiritual fruit, and enables me to stand firm even during seasons of hardship.

Like the tree planted beside the eternal spring, I desire to:

Drink daily from the Living Water that Jesus freely gives.

Remain deeply rooted and firmly established in Christ.

Trust the Lord through every season, knowing He faithfully sustains His people.

Abide continually in Christ, allowing His Spirit to produce lasting spiritual fruit and offer spiritual sacrifices satisfactory to God.

Continue growing in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ until the day He leads me to the everlasting springs of life.

My strength is not found in myself but in remaining connected to Christ, who is my identity as my source of life and my eternal hope.

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for sending Jesus Christ, the Living Water and the eternal source of my life. Thank You for giving me Your Holy Spirit, who refreshes, renews, and strengthens me each day.

Plant my life firmly beside Your eternal spring. Let my roots grow deep into Christ so that I may remain steadfast through every trial and flourish in every season. Fill my heart with Your love, strengthen my faith, and help me remain in Christ so that my life bears fruit that glorifies You.

Guide me continually by Your Spirit, satisfy my deepest thirst with Your presence, and help me grow daily in the grace and knowledge of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Keep my eyes fixed on the eternal day when the Lamb will shepherd His people to the springs of living water, where every tear will be wiped away forever.

May my life always reflect that You alone are my source, my strength, my foundation, and my everlasting hope.
